Welcome to the auction for my Toyota Celica GT4 ST165.
This vehicle has been owned by myself and a friend for the last 10 years or so, and has been in storage for all this time. It was also stored for around 5 years before that.
The Celica ST165 is becoming an extremely rare vehicle and I have been informed our example is only one of two 1988 examples remaining. This genuine UK car has covered a very low 63,000 miles, with many invoices and the original service book accompanying.
The good bits:Extremely rareCompletely original and unmodifiedInterior in exceptional conditionVery low mileageOriginal handbooks A very rare copy of an original Celica GT4 workshop manual
A number of sparesI am also pleased to say once a battery has been hooked up all the electrics work well, including the iconic pop up headlights and the motorised radio aerial.
The engine cranks over well, and we have had it running some years ago by hooking up an alternate fuel source – it will not run due to what we believe is a broken fuel pump.
The bad bits:The body will require work, as seen in the photos. A previous owner had paint stripper thrown over the side of the car, which has led to the accelerated rust along the passenger side. There are other areas of rust around the car, however we believe ‘the bones of the car are solid and from our inspections I cannot see the underside requires any major works at all (please see the photos)While the car is 99.9% original and complete, it currently does not have any callipers on. There are some that come with the spares package, however.
Finding genuine, unmodified examples of these 80’s turbocharged rally heroes are near enough non-existent, and to find this ‘barn find’ condition example is perfect for recommissioning.
We had planned on keeping this to restore, however in 10 years we have not found the time and – being honest – I cannot see us being able to find the time anytime soon, so the choice was made to offer it for sale and the funds to provide me with a new work truck for my company (www.supercargroup.co.uk)
I do have access to a covered trailer and am happy to provide delivery within the UK – all I ask is that you cover my costs for doing so. You are of course welcome to collect.
Collection within 3 days of auction ending unless prior agreement with myself.
POLITE NOTE: Please, only bid if you intend to buy. I ask that you have at least some feedback and have been a member of Ebay for some time – Iam sorry but I have been messed around too much on previous items.
