I’ve owned this car since 2016 and it’s been my daily driver up until last week. Undoubtedly the best car I’ve owned, unfortunately it’s time to let it go. The car has had 3 previous owners and comes with a V5C registration doc and owners book. mileage on the car is 176186, (although may slightly increase as I may need to move it for parking) this celica is the GT trim powered by the 2 litre 3sge, awesome petrol engine.
There is some service history but it’s a bit spotty. I’ve done some basic maintenance, mostly in the early days of my ownership. Since then I’ve kept it going and on the road, expecting it to fail it’s mot and be costly to repair. Every year it keeps going and proving me wrong. The last oil change I did was last autumn, although I have no records of this so unfortunately it’s at my word. Generally it’s been changed between every 1-2 years. I have a folder of paperwork for receipts and mot info, again it’s a bit sporadic.
Last week I noticed it has a slow puncture so took it to get a part worn tyre, unfortunately it turns out the rim is cracked (front passengers side), it needs some extra work, so that’s quits for me. I would of loved to get it to 200,000 miles but I’ve had the opportunity to take ownership of my brothers 2008 civic and sadly it’s just time to let the celica go.
Really I’ve not given the celica the love it deserves and it’s treated me better than I have it. I’m selling it as spares and repairs but pretty sure someone with some mechanical know how could get it on the road without too much hassle. It still has an MOT until 16/10/2024
Good bits.Comes with Sunroof which is fully functionalNever broken down since the day I’ve owned itDrives well, last month took it to north wales and back no problemCam belt and water pump replaced 2017 (105,432 miles)New battery fitted jan 2024New stainless steel japspeed radiator fitted jan 2024Interior generally in good conditionNot much rust and looks pretty tidy for a 26 year old carComes with 1/3 tank of fuel
Ok bits.Japspeed Stainless steel catback exhaust fitted 2017 (bit noisy, put in a bung silencer in one of the tips to quiet it down some, still may not be to everyone’s liking)Japan racing 16” alloy wheels with 3 good tyres, front passenger’s side one is cracked and flat spotted, will need repairing / replacing Original spare tyre in boot, 15″ and very old flat tyre
Bad bits. Both rear suspension struts need replacing, metallic clunking sound but still drivable. Both rear anti roll bar joints have play.Seems to be a coolant leak, (replaced the radiator in jan 2024) and just topped it up in July. Under a quick investigation I could see some dried coolant on the engine block, this could be from a deteriorated pipe although I can’t be certain so best err on the side of caution.Cv joint clicks turning hard left, and some slight metallic rubbing noise heard when driving with window down (Not brakes).Boot trim gasket is broken but works okIt’s got an oil leak around the sump, typical for it’s age.Paint quite flat in places and worn through white patina on roof (hard to picture)Missing valance / undertray
As mentioned above the front passenger alloy wheel is cracked and has a slow puncture. So ideally would need a trailer to collect it. Alternatively if you want to bring a wheel along then it would be possible to drive the car back.
For reference the current wheel is a Japan racing jr3 : 16×7 – 5×100 – et40Tyre size is : 16 205 50
Really this car is getting rarer now, so it’s too good for scrap but uneconomical for me to fix. I’m not looking to pull a fast one on anyone, just want to do good on the celica as it’s treated me well.
I’ve listed it for auction, the reserve is £200 (scrap value) anything over this I’m happy. I need it gone as I don’t have the space in my shared parking area for 2 cars.
Please do get in touch with any questions, I’ll do my best to help.If you wish to view the car again do get in touch
